Q & A with Arielle Madillan of Single Stone

Posted by Isabella Cordina on

Why do we love selling Single Stone rings? Because antique diamonds are unique and lovely and take us back to time to when jewelry was hand-made and no detail was left un-turned. Ari, the founder of the company Single Stone and Arielle's father, created a brand that is truly unique in the industry.

Below, we asked Arielle a few questions below about her trip to Charleston. Scroll to the end for some photos of jewels that will inspire!

What is your role in the family business?
I do a little bit of everything, but am primarily on the marketing side of the business. I organize our photo shoots, styled shoots and am behind the Instagram so you get to see lots of my hands!

When did you realize that you wanted to join your Father in the family business, and how long have you been there?
As a young girl I always enjoyed visiting the jewelry store. I would come in, try on all the jewelry, and pick a new favorite ring. My parents always told me I needed to try something else out before coming to work at Single Stone. So after graduating college, I worked in the cosmetic industry and event planning industry for a bit. Events were too high stress and I didn't love selling cosmetics so I decided to give jewelry a try. It was supposed to be temporary, but I ended up completely falling in love and four years later and I am still here.

What is your favorite thing about working with antique jewelry and diamonds in LA?
One of my favorite aspects is actually seeing a piece come to life. From conceptualizing the design, to selecting the perfect stone, each piece is so carefully crafted. It is so exciting to watch it turn into an amazing piece and eventually  find their new forever home.

What are you looking forward to doing while visiting Charleston?
Charleston has been a place I have been wanting to visit for almost 10 years. I look forward to seeing the charming  town, exploring the rich history and trying some of the amazing southern food!

What is your favorite piece of jewelry in the collection that you will be bringing with you?
That's a tough one! I have so many, but I am currently crushing over our new Cobblestone Club Bracelet! It is the perfect mix of modern and old world. It would look amazing with jeans and a t-shirt or a silk black dress!

Are there any sold pieces that maybe you still think about as 'the one that got away?'
There is always is one of those! There was incredible ring that I recently fell in love with this summer. The stone was an irregular old mine cut and I had not seen anything like it. It went to an amazing home, but I still daydream about that ring.
