Lucky, lucky July girls share the joy of having Ruby as a birthstone. This extremely rare gemstone is the only stone that claims this true RED brilliance. We like to call it the gem on FIRE. But did you know that Ruby is corundum, which is the same mineral as Sapphire? What makes Ruby red instead of literally all the other colors of the rainbow that Sapphire shows off so beautifully?
...The presence of Chromium! After Diamond, Corundum is the hardest natural substance.
In ancient times, it was believed that wearing Rubies bestowed health, wealth, wisdom, as well as outstanding success in affairs of the heart!
As this Coral Grande Dame must have known as she is wearing a Ruby bindi—ancient Hindus believed that those who offered fine rubies to the god Krishna were granted rebirth as emperors.
